Corby has had several cinemas over the years, from Tin Huts in Occupation Road to the impressive Art Deco Odeon on Rockingham Road, not forgetting the Jerry Lewis Cinema.

In 1946 - just after the end of World War Two – there were 1.6 Billion visits to the cinema in the UK. That’s one thousand, six hundred million (or 1,600,000,000) visits to the cinema in one year!

There is a new cinema planned for Corby town centre in 2015.

Things to do:

Think about why going to the cinema is less popular than it was in the past. Come up with 10 reasons why people don’t go as much as they used to.
